North Central Texas College in Gainseville, Texas will be the first to use a Monolithic Dome design for their new performing arts center. The Monolithic Dome will be a unique landmark structure for both the Gainesville Campus and the community.

The 130-foot diameter dome will include a conventional theater space with seating for 400, a proscenium stage, in addition to classrooms, labs, rehearsal rooms, scene shop and other features.

Before approving the construction of the Monolithic Dome, college officials visited several comparable large Monolithic Dome church sanctuaries, including Living Word Bible Church in Phoenix, Arizona. They were impressed with the engineering and design of the domes and got excited about the acoustics as well.
.
Target date for opening of the new performing arts center is January 2005, with groundbreaking set for late October of this year and completion of the building expected sometime in the late fall of 2004.
