Don Steelman was not planning on anything too fancy when he decided to build a Monolithic Dome home in the Mojave Valley. But he knew that the house itself would be giving him something worth far more than any expensive amenity that he could put into it – the knowledge that it would be around for centuries. “I decided on this dome because it’s a 500-year home,” he told a reporter for the Mojave Daily News recently.
