PantheonIn the News: Builder Finds Inspiration in Ancient Domes

September 20, 2007
by Carol Lanham

One of the most ancient dome buildings still standing today is the Pantheon in Rome. With its intricate coffers and brilliant oculus, it remains a modern-day marvel. When Peter Fedele was looking for a building that could offer protection from hurricanes, he found his inspiration in antiquity. Fedele is building six Monolithic Domes in Lakeland, Florida that will be occupied by various companies including his own firm Golden Sands Construction. Among other things, the buildings will be used to store emergency materials and generators that can be rolled out after a hurricane hits. His construction project was featured recently in the Polk County Business Journal.
