Largest Church Dome

Faith Chapel Christian Center in Birmingham, Alabama will be the largest Monolithic Dome church to date measuring 280-feet in diameter with a seating capacity of approximately 3,000. It is scheduled for inflation before this journal will reach you. You can follow its progress on our website. A large portion of the 61,575 square feet will be used for offices and classrooms.

Large domes are versatile. A 280-foot dome has been designed as an arena for hockey or basketball, for a recreational facility and a performing arts center. As a sports arena it is designed to seat approximately 8,000 spectators. Large domes make ideal sports arenas because they are efficient to heat and cool, and affordable to build and maintain.

The Monolithic Dome will have the lowest life cycle cost of all buildings - no doubt about it. It is the safest building for the occupants - protecting them from fire, wind and earthquakes. Every school campus should have a Monolithic Dome as a safe haven for the students and in some cases the community. It can be built as a gym or another type of useful building.

Largest Cement Storage

Scheduled for construction this fall is a 253-foot diameter Monolithic cement storage facility in the Virgin Islands. Customers are designing larger storage buildings because of the economy of scale they get with the larger sizes.

Before long, we expect to see the Crenosphere used for storage. Crenospheres can cover larger quantities of bulk material than could be covered by any other structure.

Under normal circumstances, coal and aggregate left outside needs covering for environmental reasons, but if these materials are stored in a Crenosphere, environmental requirements are met and complete yard operations can take place within the structure.

A large garbage composting operation is considering the Crenosphere for environmental reasons. They will be able to process within the city limits in a clean facility. Costly trips to dump areas outside the city will be eliminated, resulting in considerable fuel savings.

Paul Harvey Presents Our Case

Imagine our surprise when a customer in Florida called to tell us that Paul Harvey was talking about Monolithic Domes. We quickly turned on our radios to get the "news." Since we are a time zone behind the East Coast broadcast, we were able to listen to the next broadcast.

Harvey discussed the construction process and the advantages of building a dome. He mentioned the Monolithic Dome Builders Conference which will be held March 9-11, in Fort Worth, Texas. It was nice to hear a commentator of such stature extol the virtues of the Monolithic Dome and help MDI take another step out of obscurity into the mainstream.

"Comic Book" For Sale

My staff thinks using the term "comic book" is a bit undignified so we will use the word "illustrated." EcoShell I is an illustrated construction manual. It was done in picture format to show the construction process of an EcoShell. However, it is fully captioned in English. As much as possible, every stage of construction is illustrated so anyone - regardless of native language - can use the simple, easy-to-follow steps to complete an EcoShell for affordable structures such as, homes, schools, and storage. The illustrations describe complete construction without the use of power equipment, except for the inflator fan. Obviously, spray equipment can be used.
